## What it is

Daily vessel transit counts through eight maritime chokepoints, as published by the IMF PortWatch platform and collected by the firm's dashboard pipeline.

## Source and tier

IMF PortWatch daily chokepoint transit series, read from its public feature services. Tier T4 on the firm's source tier policy (T1 government and regulatory, T2 institutional, T3 reputable media, T4 structured data).

## Cadence

Appended daily by the collectors; PortWatch itself publishes with a lag of several days.

## Fields

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `chokepoint` | PortWatch chokepoint slug (for example strait-of-hormuz, suez-canal). |
| `date` | ISO date of the observation. |
| `transits` | Vessel transits counted that day. |

## Caveats

Counts are PortWatch's AIS-derived estimates. Gaps in the series are gaps in the upstream data and are not filled. Baselines and status colours on the Dashboard are the firm's derivation and are not in this file.
